Thank you AHA for FIVE FABULOUS YEARS
The AHA Newcastle and Hunter members are supporting ConnectAbility through Dine Out for Disability for the fifth year. Participating Hotels from across the Hunter will donate $1.00 per meal sold over the three days to ConnectAbility to enable us to purchase a vehicle to get more people out into their communities participating in social, recreational, educational or family activities.
Being able to get out when and where you choose gives people independence, choice and control over their lives. It also provides an alternative for people other than relying on their families.
The commitment shown by the AHA members and staff to ensuring that people with a disability are able to be included and valued community citizens is what drives and makes this event such a success. As we have begun to deliver the posters and tins the enthusiastic welcome we have received demonstrates the recognition and growth of the Dine Out event.
We encourage everyone to gather together with family, friends and work mates to DIne Out over the three days in support of ConnectAbility and our participants. Please forward to your friends and we would love you to LIKE our page. The more people who Dine Out the more the AHA can donate. Every dollar counts towards someone being more independent.
The AHA Newcastle and Hunter and the Hunter Community – Supporting independence through transport
The AHA will be supporting Dine Out for Disability for a 5th year in 2014. A real achievement that demonstrates the commitment of the AHA members and staff to promoting opportunities and inclusion for people with a disability in their communities.
Commencing from 3 to 5 October 2014 participating AHA Hotels will donate $1.00 from each meal to ConnectAbility to support local people living with a disability access transport through the purchase of a vehicle so that ConnectAbility can get more people out and achieving their goals to be included members of their communities.
Think about how you would get around if you could not utilise your car, the bus, the train or a taxi. What would you do and who would you have to rely on?
Being able to get out and about in your community is something most of us take for granted. For many of the people supported by ConnectAbility being able to attend social, recreational, educational or family related interactions is not a possibility without specialised transport. This might be due to their physical or intellectual disability or where they live in our more rural local government areas where there is little public transport with suitable options. Through Dine Out for Disability 2014 we are looking to provide more independence for people by being able to access transport when they need it.
What can you do to support us during Dine Out for Disability?
Choose a Hotel from the list below and Dine Out with colleagues, family and friends between Friday 3rd to Sunday 5 October 2014 so that $1.00 from each meal will be donated to help us purchase a vehicle. There are lots of Hotels to choose from and they will love to see you.
You may also wish to drop extra coins into the tins on the counters. Every little bit helps.
You are making a huge difference in the lives of local people living with a disability.
5 Fabulous Years
Thank you to the AHA Newcastle and Hunter, their members and staff and to the Hunter community who support this event by dining out each year.
The AHA has already assisted us to purchase a modified kitchen where we assist people to be independent through learning how to budget, shop and cook. Funds have been used to provide sporting equipment that keeps people fit and healthy and they have provided us with two accessible vehicles. These two vehicles have made a difference to many people in wheelchairs being able to get out and join in activities within their community.
We couldn't have achieved these results without the commitment of the AHA publicans who graciously donate time, money and resources to ensure the ongoing success of Dine Out and we send everyone a huge THANK YOU for 5 fabulous years.
