Sports Equipment

To achieve your best in life takes team work and support. As the recent Paralympics showed people are capable of remarkable things, whoever they are.

For people with disabilities small things like riding a bike, playing footy, going to the gym or sticking your toes in the surf requires a little extra support and help. It also requires access to specialised equipment  like beach wheelchairs, seated and tandem bikes, sports wheelchairs and transport to and from these activities.

With the support of the Newcastle and Hunter Australian Hotels Association, hotels throughout the Hunter and the Hunter Community we wanted to make it easier for people to do the things that they love.  Money raised through Dine Out for Disability 2012 was used to purchase much needed equipment that gives everyone in the community a chance to play the sports they love and to keep healthy and active.

The joy of the group of new surfers was obvious following their first lesson funded through Dine Out. The participants went from spectators to surfers in a short time. When you live in a city with a beach culture being able to be a part of it was very important and we are grateful that the Hotels and community were able to make dreams a reality.
